Policies and Guidelines

Student access to technology in the Watertown-Mayer Public School District has been established for educational purposes. The use of the Watertown-Mayer School District’s electronic technologies is a valued resource to our community. All electronic technologies must be used in support of the educational program of the District. This privilege may be revoked at any time for abusive or inappropriate conduct related to the use of electronic technologies.

Failure to comply with the District’s Bully Prohibition Policy (#514) and Technology Resource Acceptable Use And Safety Policy (#524) or the guidelines stated in this document for care and use of the iPad may result in the loss of privilege to take the iPad home or use the iPad in general.

The iPad is property of Watertown-Mayer Public Schools and as a result may be seized and reviewed at any time. The student should have no expectation of privacy of materials found on an iPad.

Insurance Guidelines:

The iPad is property of the Watertown-Mayer ISD #111, and is being made available for your child to take home to enhance his/her educational experience. This iPad should only be used to access educationally appropriate materials which will be provided to him/her.

All WM District internet access policies must be followed completely. The iPad must be brought back to school each day for educational purposes. WM reserves the right to revoke your privilege of taking home the iPad if it is determined that these policies and conditions are not being met.

Upon your child taking the referenced iPad home, you as his/her parent/guardian assume full responsibility for theft or any damages that may occur to the iPad. This would include any damages that may occur while your child is in transit to or from school; unless the damage occurred as the result of a traffic accident involving the bus. If the iPad is damaged, reimbursement for damages would include full cost of repair, reprogramming and/or replacement as determined by the WM technology staff.

Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 is offering optional iPad insurance coverage for parents. Parents can purchase an iPad insurance policy that would cover all necessary repairs and/or iPad replacements. The policy would cover theft, burglary/robbery, accidental damage, power surger, vandalism, fire and natural disasters. There will be a deductible charged on most claims, (the only exception being the first incidence of a broken iPad.) Intentional damage to the iPad, (including protective case or charger,) or taking the iPad out of the protective case will void the insurance, and you will be responsible for the full cost of repair.
